President Ghani Visits Kapisa, Inquires Overall Security Situation

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani visited northern Kapisa province and chaired a security meeting which was also attended by the Minister of Interior and security in-charges of the said province here yesterday in Mahmood Raqi city.
At the outset, Kapisa governor, Police Chief, NDS local chief and ANA local commander presented to the president their plans for foiling terrorists’ plots and thanked government’s efforts in bringing security, prevention of drug trafficking and activity of the illegal armed individuals.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani appreciated the braveries of the national defense forces, instructing the concerned officials to address the requirements of the martyrs’ families and submit a written report on this issue to the presidential office.
“Local police forces are not for local competition. People asking for the abolition of the illegal armed individuals throughout the country”, the president said, asking the people to submit a written report on current security challenges so that based on which, plans to be prepared for counterterrorism activities in the said province.
The president also held a separate meeting with administrative panels of Kapisa province and heard their problems. In the meeting, deputy to Kapisa governor and a number of provincial administrative panels’ directors presented a number of their proposals and problems to the president. The economic sectors’ ministers who were also accompanying the president, briefed the participants on their upcoming infrastructural and development projects in the said province.
Talking in the meeting, the president said that the central government has increased contacts with all governors of the provinces. “Around 24 governors presented their plans and security problems in the cabinet and security council meetings. The remaining governors would also present their problems and plans in the upcoming meetings”, the president said adding that except inviting the governors to Kabul, video conferences is also being held to further know the problems and find out solutions for them.
In a separate meeting with provincial elders, influential, Ulema and Kapisa representatives to lower house, the president was asked to find solution for the security challenges in Tagap, Ala Sai and Nejrab districts as well as to pay attention on reconstruction of Gulbahar textile factory, finalizing the construction of the 200 bed hospital, asphalting of Mahmood Raqi roads, reconstruction of Al-Birooni university, building of water dams and granting of master degree scholarship to lecturers of the said university.
Thanking the participants for sharing their problems and proposals, the president praised youth of Kapisa province for defending the national integrity, honor and independence of Afghanistan while serving in the rank of national security forces. The president went on as saying that distance between the nation and government should be removed, adding that he will closely monitor the problems of citizens through visiting the country’s provinces.
Hinting on reconstruction of Gulbahar textile factory and construction of 200 bed hospital, the president said a structural delegation would review the hospital construction process so that either to cancel the contract or to accelerate the process. Meanwhile the president added that in his trips to foreign countries he has attracted the foreign investment to help the factories get operational.
The president also said that there is plan for construction of over 21 water dams, aiming to change Afghanistan to an exporter of electricity to regional countries. In his trip to Kapisa, the president was accompanied by the Minister of Interior, Minister of Water and Energy, Minister of Higher Education, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Minister of Economy, Minister of Justice, Minister of Frontiers and Tribal Affairs, Mohammad Akram Khpelwak presidential advisor on political affairs, Abdul Malik Seddiqi acting director for local organs and Massoud Andarabi acting NDS chief.
