Afghanistan Calls For Long-Term NATO Support

Kabul (BNA) Presidential Advisor on National Security, Mohammad Hanif Atmar who is visiting Brussels in a meeting with NATO’s Secretary General and other officials of the alliance exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and NATO’s cooperation with the country beyond 2016, BNA reported.
Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) is capable enough to fight terrorism, Atmar said in meeting with NATO officials. However, he expressed concern over expansion of terrorist activities, saying, overcoming terrorism menace requires long-term support of NATO-member states. Presidential advisor on national security also requested the secretary general of NATO to join US in supporting Afghanistan. Meantime, the secretary general of NATO and allied nations in the conference, besides assuring their support to defense and security organs of Afghanistan, also demanded Afghan government to bring reforms in the fields of political, economic and security.
