President Ghani Meets German Defense Minister

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met yesterday with German defense minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer at Presidential Palace.
In the meeting, both sides exchanged views and discussed security situation of Afghanistan and the region, bilateral cooperation, environment and alternative energy, empowerment of women and peace process.
President Ghani praised Germany for its continued cooperation with Afghanistan in various sectors, adding that the government and people of Germany have stood beside Afghanistan for the past 18 years and played constructive role in training, equipping and funding the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF).
The country’s President also by offering sympathy and condolence to the families of German troops who have been killed in Afghanistan, saying that German’s role in extension of the country’s forces in framework of NATO RS mission as graceful and presence of NATO as a strategic partner of Afghanistan was appreciable.
Meanwhile, German defense minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbaur by praising ANDSF for their role in counter terrorism and maintaining security of the Sep 28 Presidential elections added this was showing increasing capabilities of ANDSF and Germany would continue its cooperation with Afghanistan in training and equipping the ANDSF.
The German defense minister said their common goal as that the people of Afghanistan live in a peaceful environment, stressing that role of Afghanistan government in peace process was important as a powerful government after results of the election could strengthen and run the process.
