Senate Discusses Activities Of National Disaster Preparedness Committee

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by Fazul Hadi Muslimyar the speaker of the senate, heard the report of the national disaster preparedness committee. 
The deputies expressed concern that heavy snowfalls in the country may cause rise of water in summer and asked the committee to adopt precautionary measures for prevention of floods and other natural disasters. 
The commissions’ chairmen noted the problems of the affected people in snowfalls and asked the ministry of public works to facilitate cleaning of roads and expressed concern that there is possibility for heavy floods this year and the committee has to take precautionary measures in advance. 
Meanwhile, some of the senators raised the problems in their constituencies adding that some people lost their lives and others sustained material losses while others were engulfed in snow and these need immediate address by the disaster committee. 
The senators also complained over embezzlement of money allocated for cleaning of snow including in the Zabul province adding that the cleaning process were contracted without bidding and the powerful usurped the privilege and in some cases even contracts were not concluded.
