Kabul (BNA) Agriculture officials say about 42,000 tons of sesame has been produced in the level of the country.
According to BNA, statistics from Information Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock show that 41,855 tons of sesame seeds were collected from sixty-five hectares of land last year.
It is said that most of the sesame fields are in Faryab, Jawzjan, Sar-e-pul, Balkh, Samangan, Kunduz, Takhar, Baghlan and Helmand.
Sesame has many properties and this plant is used to prepare oil, flavor foods, strengthen and maintain healthy skin, and has a great effect in preventing diabetes.
