Book-Reading Culture Should Be Promoted Among People, President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) The third book fair to celebrate Book Week at the initiative of Ministry of Information and Culture and with the cooperation of a number of book publishers was opened in Kabul.
The purpose of the exhibition was institutionalization of book-reading culture in the country, because despite challenges on the way of publication and distribution of books the publishers’ are making efforts to institutionalize book-reading culture among the people.
President Ashraf Ghani has emphasized that the Afghan families should try to make routine this valuable initiative, because existence of books and book-reading culture can further developed and generalize this culture among the families. Meanwhile, Abdul Bari Jahani, Minister of Information and Culture in his message on this occasion urged that book-reading culture must be changed as a routine culture among Afghan citizens, especially the young generations in order to lead the country towards development and prosperity.  Jahani added, “That in present situation it is the obligation of the people, particularly the youth to upgrade the book-reading culture in the society.
Likewise, Ahmad Zia Massoud, president’s Special Envoy for Reform and Good Governance Affairs on the occasion of the book fair said that the books playing important role in development and upgrading of minds and thoughts in the society as well book-reading considered as a national responsibility to all the youth of the country. However, Shamsulhaq Aryanfar, the Head of Government Dailies also a prominent writer and researcher described that during the past four years books publication was not noticeable and still we don’t have book production market in the country.  During visiting the book fair a number of book publishers’ asked the government to pay heed in order to publish the books inside of the country also holding of such exhibitions will motivate young generations further to book-reading and it’s the families responsibilities  to promote culture of book-reading among the youth. Ajmal Aazem, Deputy of Publishers’ Union of Afghanistan has expressed that during the past thirteen years the book and publishing process had experienced considerable achievements. Mariam, a student in one of the higher educational institutions has made her opinion in connection with book exhibition, that this process can play effective role on the improvement of studying and also people would be encouraged to follow this vital phenomenon.
