China, World Bank Congratulate President Ghani’s Re-Election

Kabul (BNA) Chinese President, Xi Jinping, in message has congratulated Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on his re-election as president of Afghanistan, a statement from the Presidential Office said Wednesday.
“On behalf of the government and the people of the republic of China, I want to express my warm congratulation and good wishes to your excellency for your re-election as the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and through you to the government and people of Afghanistan and wish you success in this great job,” the message read as quoted by the presidential office. “At present, the peace process and reconstruction of Afghanistan are taking place at the sensitive stages, I believe, under your leadership, the people of Afghanistan with unity can overcome the challenges and access a lasting security and sustainable development,” the message read.
The Chinese president, in the message vowed to continue supporting Afghanistan, as its strategic partner. In the recent years, China-Afghanistan partnership enjoyed a developing dynamic force and that President Xi thanks Afghanistan’s active share to implement the issue. “Taking in mind, the importance of relations between China and Afghanistan, I want to work jointly with you to help reach the joint cooperation to a stage leading to both countries and the nations,” the message said. In another message, the World Bank Group has congratulated the country’s president for his re-election and hoped peace process under his leadership could result in strengthening efforts for peace, stability and prosperity.
In the message, the WBG governor has said that the group would continue its financial and technical cooperation with Afghanistan to help the country each its determined goals in economic development and reduction of poverty. According to the message, the Afghanistan reconstruction fund sponsored by the World Bank hoped to jointly work with the government of Afghanistan for the Conference on Renewal of Commitment, which is expected to be held at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2021.
