VP Saleh, Chinese Ambassador Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Ties

Kabul (BNA) First Vice President Amrullah Saleh met with Chinese Ambassador to Kabul, Wang Yu, here in his office yesterday, a statement said.
Both sides discussed bilateral cooperation, Chinese assistance to Afghanistan and the peace process, the statement from First VP Press Office said yesterday.
VP Saleh briefed the Chinese Ambassador on the latest developments in the peace process and reiterated the commitment of the Afghan government and people to peace within the framework of the republic and in the light of the values of the Afghan people and Afghanistan's national interests, the statement said.
Hinting to historical ties with People’s Republic of China, VP Saleh said Afghan government and people appreciating such ties and the Chinese cooperation with Afghanistan.
Meanwhile Ambassador Wang Yu said his country was supporting a united, prosperous and democratic Afghanistan, adding that China was favoring a peaceful approach to the Afghan war, the statement added.
The Ambassador said his country was against terrorist activities in Afghanistan and would remain alongside Afghan government in war on terror. Ambassador Wang you also added that the Afghan government, security forces and society are stronger than ever, and that China will continue and expand its security cooperation with Afghanistan.
The statement quoted the Ambassador saying that China would continue to support Afghanistan's health sector and reconstruction and planning to build cold storage facilities in three of Afghanistan's largest cities. He also promised that would encourage Chinese companies and businesses to invest and enhance trade activities in Afghanistan.
