President Ghani Meets UNDP Chairwoman

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met a delegation of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) headed by its chairwoman here in Arg yesterday and exchanged views on matters relating the role of UNDP in Afghanistan.
The delegation said that the UNDP is committed to help increase the capacity of Afghanistan government.
Thanking the delegation, president Ghani whished the UNDP to share its experiences with Afghanistan government and said that the UN entities could play the role of facilitators in Afghanistan. Describing the role of UN in transferring the experience of East Asia to Afghanistan very important, the president noted that the UN should play more effective role than the past. President Ghani also suggested that a system should be formed to increase the cooperation between Afghanistan and countries in the region during natural disasters. In the meeting matters relating the police salaries and LOTFA system to transfer came under discussion and the delegation assured that UN is committed to transfer the system. Matters relating Afghanistan’s infrastructures and energy were also discussed in the meeting and the UNDP delegation hailed the plan of president Ghani to change Afghanistan into center a bridge the region.  According to another report the UNDP delegation also called on chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and exchanged views on matters relating boosting local governance, finding financial resources and UNDP’ s next programs in Afghanistan.
