Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani delivering speech in ‘National conference on supporting human rights advocates’ said that the world human rights day is being observed in a time that Afghanistan has taken bold steps on institutionalization of human rights, however insecurity remains a persistent issue.
Addressing to the participants of the conference, the president said, it is hoped the human right advocates not to be called only as the advocates, but also as the defenders of Afghanistan constitution, adding anything included in universal declaration of the human rights, has been clearly stated in the country’s constitution. “People’s believe on their security forces has been increased and necessary reformation taken place in judicial and justice organs. Increasing role of civil society activists and media have helped decreased the number of human rights violation across the country,” the president noted, adding the government considers human rights issues in the all laws being enforced. Hinting to effective judicial and justice organs to defend the people’s right in transparent manner, the president said the necessary reforms have taken place in attorney general office and other judicial organs and the ground has been prepared to prosecute those behind the violence and violation of the human rights. “The law at first, will be implemented on me, then on the other people. As it is the demand of all Afghan citizens,” the president added, saying no one is above the law and defending the human rights advocates is government’s main responsibility. The president went on saying that Taliban’s act of human rights violation is not only against the international norms, but also against the Islamic teachings, adding terrorists have targeted the Masjids, schools, children and elders in the last fifteen years which itself shows their misunderstanding of Islam and is indeed being considered as the war crime. Pointing to killing of five women, who were working for Kandahar airport, the president called the attack as nerveless, blood sucking and unfamiliarity of the terrorists to religion and their misinterpretation of Islamic teachings. “The government feels responsible to defend the human rights values and is committed to support those who are working to defend the people’s legitimate rights and paying efforts to institutionalize it,” the president said. Concluding his remarks, the president said that considering the bitter experiences in the past, Afghanistan would never go back and the country would not commemorate the victims of the human rights violations.
