Kabul (BNA) Permanent membership of Afghanistan in Shanghai Economic Cooperation Organization, make the role of the country pivotal in regional cooperation and will be very crucial in the development of the region.
BNA economic analyst commenting on the issue writes Dr. Abdullah Abdullah the executive chief of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan attending the 4th summit of the member countries of Shanghai Economic Cooperation asked for permanent membership of Afghanistan in this credible regional organization.
Dr. Abdullah delivering a speech in the session made it clear that regional organization such as Shanghai Economic Cooperation Organization is of great importance for ensuring friendly relation and cooperation among the countries and provides the ground for exchanging views and classifies their priorities, adopts legal measures timely for the solution of relevant problems.
The exertive chief of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan insisted that what has being said should be put in practice, otherwise just words are not suffice for settling the problems. Now it is the time, to implement our commitment in practice and adopt practical measures to provide a proper ground for ensuring stability, security, economic growth, and regional cooperation in this sensitive part of the globe.
The executive chief in Shanghai summit repeated the commitments of Afghanistan for achieving the high long-term objectives of the organization, which are stability, economic growth, and struggle against terrorism, extremism, and sectarianism. The statements and commitments made by Dr. Abdullah indicate that Afghanistan has capabilities and possibilities to obtain the permanent membership of Shanghai Organization. Shanghai is located in most populous, politically importance geography and great economic region. The greatest industrial countries such China, Russia and India are the members of Shanghai and its member countries are in direct threat of terrorism and extremism. While Afghanistan as a connecting point of Shanghai member countries exercises a pivotal role in implementing the objectives of Shanghai and because of its location is at the focus of terrorist and extremist networks and so far is involved in a fatal war against terrorism and extremism that has caused huge casualties.
As the UN special envoy for Afghanistan in Heart of Asia Conference recently held in Islamabad explicitly pointed to role of Afghanistan in fighting against terrorism and extremism in order the Shanghai member countries had better know about the crucial role of Afghanistan in the region to be accept as permanent member of this great and powerful organization. Permanent membership Afghanistan will find it more powerful in struggle against terrorism and extremism, improves its economy, and restricts the ground for terrorists and their supporters to carry out their terrorist activities. In this way, pave the way for understanding and dialogue with the assistance of Shanghai member countries and struggle against terrorism and extremism hit its target that is complete eradication of that evil phenomenon forever.
