NPC Approves 8 Contracts Worth 25b Afghanis

Kabul (BNA) Presided over by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, national procurement commission’s session approved eight contracts worth 25 billion Afg.
The contracts included construction of 3rd phase of Kamal Khan dam of Nimroz, design and construction of Dahan-e-Dara dam of Faryab’s Pashtunkot district, transmission of CASA – 1000 project approved in Principe, construction of Mehtarlam ring-roads in Laghman, construction of Afghanistan embassy’s complex to Islamabad and three contracts for foodstuffs and fuel for presidential office’s directorate of administrative affairs. Discussing in connection with transmission line of CASA – 1000 project, the country’s President praised negotiating delegation of ministries of finance and water and energy for their effective talks as a result of which considerable discount has been made in suggestive price of tenders of the project. The commission once again discussed technical studies and design of projects as Ghodar dam of Daikundi, Gazak of Bamyan, Dahan-e-Ghorband of Parwan, Paltoyee of Paktia, Domanda of Khost, Alingar of Laghman, Tirpul of Herat, Zaramardan of Farah, Dahan-e-Bom of Ghor, Wakhi of Panjshir, Chal of Takhar, Aab-e-Shor of Badghis, Lowara of Kandahar, Agha Jan of Uruzgan and Sori Khola dam of Paktia.
The session decided that for further assurance of effectively implementation of key national and infrastructural projects, a special session should be held under the chairmanship of the country’s President in participation of ministers of water and energy, economy, senior advisor to president on infrastructures and national procurement authority. Related to feasibility studies of the respective projects, President Ghani asserted that he himself reviewed their documents and it was necessary that an economic analysis should be done related to output value of the projects’ price, stressing that those companies having real financial and technical capability for implementation of the projects should participate through sound competition. The commission approved suggestion of MoD in connection with making use of domestic products instead of imported stuffs. The country’s President once again insisted that the government was supporting any efforts made towards strengthening of domestic projects and creating valued chain through government contracts for internal market and Afghan enterprises.
