Herat (BNA) Oba district police chief of Herat was martyred in attack by Taliban insurgents.
Officer Mohammad Rafiq Alokozai was targeted in Bazaar of the district with his bodyguard and martyred this morning.
Herat police spokesman Abdul Ahad Valizada, in a contact with the BNA confirmed the death of the police officer.
A security guard of Mohammad Rafiq Alokozai was also martyred and two other policemen were wounded in the attack.
Herat police spokesman said the Taliban had suffered casualties in the fighting, but the exact extent is unclear.
