Govt. To Further Exert Pressure On Terrorists If Terror Attacks Not Reduced: President

Kabul (BNA) The government of Afghanistan would further mount pressure on terrorists if their attacks not reduced in the country, this was stated the other day by president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the sideline of 15th summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Ufa city of Russia, BNA reported.
Praising the role of Pakistan in facilitating the first-ever direct talks between the delegation of High Peace Council and Taliban in Pakistan days ago, the president said that war on Afghanistan has been imposed and Afghanistan government won’t allow the peace process to be damaged. On security threats exposed by the so-called Islamic State or Daesh, the president said other terrorist groups have found foothold in the region. President Ghani also urged the Pakistani Premier to take steps for implementing agreements exist between the two countries. He also called for investment in power sector in Afghanistan, saying investment in power sector in Afghanistan would enable this country to export electricity to Pakistan and India. Implementing economic regional projects can change Afghanistan into cross road of cooperation in the region, the president added. Reciprocating the remarks, Prime Minister Sharif said that Pakistan is eager to improve relations with Afghanistan and has renewed its commitment in this regard with the formation of national unity government in Afghanistan. He also expressed happiness over holding peace talks between Afghan delegation and Taliban. President Ghani, according to another report also met Indian Prime Minister Narindra Modi at the sideline of SCO summit in Russia.
