US To Provide $70 Million To Support Women

Kunduz (BNA) The deputy to US ambassador on the rule of law, in Afghanistan, Moro Dixi during a visit to Kunduz said that, “US would invest 70 million US dollars to support women in the fields of economy and politics. 
In meeting with local civil and military officials and journalists, he said he had visited Kunduz to evaluate human and women rights, saying the efforts over the past few years to eliminate violations against women and ensure the law in Kunduz is appreciable.
The diplomat also stated that women rights situation has been tremendously changed in Afghanistan over the past 10 years, adding Afghan women were unable to do business 10 years ago, while today 80,000 women have received short and long term loans for running their businesses.
He also said today 8.4 million Afghans go to school with 38 percent of them girls.
Briefing the diplomat, Kunduz governor Mohammad Anwar Jegdalek said that essential steps had been taken to eliminate violence against women in Kunduz and they enjoy all rights granted in Islam.
