Japan, A Major Contributor To Afghanistan: Dostum

Kabul (BNA) Japan ambassador to Afghanistan Hiroshi Takashi called on the first vice president Abdul Rashid Dostum here the other day and said his country is committed to support the government of Afghanistan and wishes to see Afghanistan embracing lasting peace and stability.
The vice president described Japan as a major contributor to Afghanistan, saying more than 13 billion US dollars had been contributed by Japan in the rebuilding process of Afghanistan and the people of Afghanistan would never forget the assistance. The vice president also noted that Afghanistan is still in need of Japan’s support and said that Japan can contribute in building water canals and providing potable waters especially in Aqcha to help develop agriculture sector. According to another report, a delegation of elders from Takhar province called on first vice president and the vice president said the new government is committed to serve the people of Afghanistan.
