Protection of Journalists Rights A Top Priority, Dr. Abudllah

Kabul (BNA) The Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has termed expression freedom one of the prides of the government and people of Afghanistan.
He made the remarks in meeting with the deputy director of Human Rights Monitoring agency for Asia and the senior researcher on Afghanistan in the entity here yesterday.
Appreciating the role of the entity for monitoring human rights in Afghanistan and the world, the chief executive said that the government of national unity is committed to respect human rights as it envisaged in the country’s constitution.
Expressing concerns over threats against journalists in Afghanistan, the delegation called for sound support of government to journalists and freedom of expression and press. The report of the agency on human rights in Afghanistan would be released Tuesday. Moreover, the delegation of the human rights watchdog also expressed concerns over the violence against women in Afghanistan. The chief executive in the meeting pointed out that the government of national unity is committed to spare no efforts for elimination of violence against women in Afghanistan.
