Kabul (BNA) Afghan women national consensus for peace was held in Kabul with the presence of 3500 women from across the country, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported the other day.
According to the agency, addressing a joint news conference, the advisor to First Lady Zuhra Yousuf said the thought on presence of women in peace talks has been created months ago in the First Lady office and then, the ministry of women affairs, high peace council, civil society and women network joined that and expanded it to provinces.
Thousands of Afghan women held meetings and gatherings and presented their views on three points, what is peace, what are the factors behind war and what are the solutions?, she added. Within a 15-article declaration related to women national consensus for peace issued on last Thursday, the views and demands of almost 15000 women have been embedded. She stressed that the Afghan women should voice up on peace negotiations, because, they are in a juncture that no one can represent them.
Meanwhile, Acting Minister of Information and Culture Hasina Safi read out the declaration, saying the government, Taliban and other armed insurgent groups are asked to immediately stop war and declare ceasefire without any conditions.
Based on the declaration, existence of irresponsible gunmen is among the factors behind insecurity in the country, she added. The declaration asks the government to legally treat and disarm such individuals, expand rule of law and pave the way for ensuring peace and stability throughout the country, she stated. Condemning any claim on establishing interim government, the declaration asks for holding fair and transparent elections.
