Australian FM Assures Afghanistan On Long-Term Support

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met Australian Foreign Minister Mrs. Julie Bishop in Arg yesterday and exchanged views on matters relating mutual interests including security situation in Afghanistan and the war on terror.
According to presidential press office to BNA, the president besides congratulating Australian Foreign Minister over her country’s national holiday coinciding on Jan. 26th also expressed gratitude over Australian contribution to Afghanistan over the past decade.  Australia is committed to assist Afghanistan on long-term basis; the Australian top diplomat went on to say at the meeting.  She also added that her country wants to see a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
According to another report, Chief Executive of national unity government Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met Australian Foreign Minister Mrs. Julie Bishop here yesterday and exchanged views on matters relating mutual interests.  During the meeting, the chief executive expressed sympathy over hostage taking in Australia and termed terrorism and extremism as common enemy of both the countries. Describing Australia as a strong ally of Afghanistan, the chief executive also thanked Australian government and its people over its contribution to Afghanistan over the past 13 years. The Australian foreign minister during the visit also congratulated the chief executive over formation of national unity government and assured her country’s long-term support to Afghanistan, saying Australia not only in the war on terror but also in the field of investment and economy would help the militancy-plagued country.
