President Ghani Chairs NSC Meeting

KABUL (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired the meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) during which the defense and security ministers provided reports about the security situation of Helmand, Urozgan, Baghlan, Kunar, Nooristan and Nangarhar provinces, the BNA reported the other day. The council praised the bravery and capability of the Afghan forces in war on the insurgency and asked for soon addressing the problems of the martyred families, the agency said. The council also lauded the reforms brought in the local police in the recent seven months and instructed their problems should be tackled as soon as possible, according to the agency. Considering the next five years of offensive and defensive plan of the security forces, the council of minister provided the council members for speeding up their operative plans for suppressing the enemy, under firm and regulated military plans. According to another report the president chaired the national procurements commission in which, he said the government was focused on reconstruction of the 29 big and small dams, while it is making efforts to remove deadlock on the reconstruction of some other dams in some provinces of the country, including Faryab, Paktia, Herat and Kabul. At the meeting which taken part by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah, Second Vice-President, Sarwar Danesh and some related ministers, the NPC resolved that a tasked delegation should closely and precisely monitor the contracts to verify what the problem was and who should be held accountable. The president also said the government was doing its best to protect the life and properties of the people against seasonal floods and natural disasters in Baghlan and Kunduz provinces, during his speech to express pleasure over what he lauded the creation of the sub-stations in the two provinces. To conclude with, the commission approved six contracts worth some 216 million Afghanis.
