2nd National Urban Conference Opened

Kabul (BNA) The second national conference on urban development was opened yesterday in Kabul BNA reported.
In the conference attended by the country’s president and a number of high-ranking government officials, minister of urban development Sayed Saadat Nadiri in his speech expressed concern over increasing number of population in cities, saying that his ministry was working on development of standard cities.
He stressed on identifying current gaps in cities within six months, adding that national unity government was thinking of improvement of cities’ condition and trying to absorb donor countries’ cooperation in this regard. Minister of urban development further said that US, China, India, World Bank and European Union have committed to cooperation with Afghanistan in this regard. In the conference, special envoy to president on reforms and good governance in his speech said, “A good urban life has direct relations to continued sound services and delivering sound urban services has direct relations to sound urban management. It is determined that modality of urban development, prevention from increasing number of population in cities and delivering urban services will be discussed in the conference.
