President Ghani Confers State Medal on Outgoing US Ambassador

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting Monday evening with US outgoing ambassador to Kabul John Bass conferred the state medal of Ghazi Mohammad Akbar Khan upon him in recognition of his services. In a presidential decree read out on this occasion by advisor to President on cultural affairs Asadullah Ghazanfar, the US outgoing ambassador’s efforts towards consolidation and expansion of overall relations between Afghanistan and US, maintaining peace in our country and the region and absorption of his country’s assistance to Afghanistan have been appreciated President Ghani confers state medal on US outgoing ambassador ated. After conferring the respective medal on the US ambassador to Kabul, on behalf of the government and people of Afghanistan, President Ghani extended gratitude to the United States for its generous assistance and paid tribute to those Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice alongside Afghans. Expressing happiness over fulfilling his mission in Afghanistan, John Bass considered Afghanistan’s success as the success of the US, stressing on his country’s continued efforts towards peaceful future in Afghanistan. According to another report, chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in a farewell meeting with US outgoing ambassador John Bass appreciated his efforts he has made towards consolidation of relations between US and Afghanistan, strengthening of democracy, supporting civil society organizations, good governance, counter corruption and peace in Afghanistan. The country’s chief executive also praised the US for its assistance to Afghanistan, wishing the US outgoing ambassador further success in his coming missions.
