USAID Pledges $200 Million for Women Development Programs

Kabul (BNA) The 200 million dollars financial cooperation is aimed to expand women contribution in the economic and political scenario of the country in the future.  The United Sates Assistance for International Development (USAID) is working on a number of programs which will preserve role of women in Afghanistan in the future.
An official from the US Assistance for International Development (USAID) Rajeev Shah said that the five years programs which known as (Development is the biggest gender program of the US in Afghanistan and is fully backed by the European Union (EU), however, Mr. Shah added that alongside allocation of $200 million, some European countries same as UK and Australia have also promised to raise the amount to 416 million for women development programs in Afghanistan.
In the meantime, the USAID officials in a press release announced that for women capacity building in the next decade, effective programs have been proposed which represents longstanding support of the United States to Afghanistan.  The program would cover women aged 28 to 30 and the main purpose is to intensify women contribution in leadership within the government framework and development of women skills.
USAID chairman has expressed satisfaction over the achievements of Afghan women during the last eleven years and the main purpose of the financial assistance is to expand role of women in political and economic scenario of the country.
Elaborating on the matter, local resident Ms. Kamil who pursues job in professional skills program said, “Women have retained capacity to play greater role in the society alongside the men and asked women rights protection institutions and government of Afghanistan to support the women so that they play effective role on all grounds including politics business, education and culture.”
Meanwhile, women rights protection foundations in Afghanistan have demanded the US to provide financial cooperation to Afghan women so that the Afghan women are able to play greater role in socioeconomic prosperity of the country as women have suffered tragically in the past and they need long term supports of international community to attain their humanitarian and democratic rights.
