No one Allowed To Use ‘Loya Jirga’ For Their Own Interest, Helmand Elders

Kabul (BNA) President Ghani met a number of Helmand elders and influential here yesterday morning, the presidential press office said.
According to the statement, the president besides putting turban on head of a tribal elder Hafizullah Barekzai, said respecting the elders were the main tradition of Afghans.
The president added law would be implemented and those breaking the law would be punished, as this is the main choice of the Afghan people, adding the government’s main goal is peace and stability in Helmand province.
The president went on saying that TAPI pipeline to be reached Herat soon, asking elders to cooperate in the project as the country’s enemies trying to halt the program.
The president also said that 500 kW power line to be extended from Torghundi to Spinbuldak and a number of other projects to bring relief into life of the people.
Meanwhile the tribal elder Hafizullah Barekzai praised President Ghani’s achievements and the government’s programs, saying people support the government and all Afghan tribes are brothers.
Thanking president’s respect, the elders also put turban on president, wishing him health and success in his career.
The elders also said that supporting government should be a priority rather than holding of traditional Loya Jirga, adding no one should useJirgas for their own interest.
