Kabul (BNA) Ajmal Hameed Abdulrahimzai, PR director and spokesperson of Ministry of Finance shared the important achievements of FY-1396 of the Ministry and the new strategy for supporting State Owned Banks with the media in the Government Media & Information Center (GMIC) through a press conference.
According to BNA report, “The Strategy which is designed by Ministry of Finance and approved by High Economic Council, its aim is better management of the banks, reform in banking system, better service delivery to the people, private sector support, banks work based on international standards, effective use of the new technology and granting more loans facilities” said PR director & Spokesperson of Ministry of Finance Mr. Ajmal Hameed Abdulrahimzai. In order to protect freedom of expression, the Ministry of Finance has amended the Income Tax Law in paragraph 15 of Article 16, which, the print media are exempted from taxes after approval by the parliament, and the President's signature” he added. Mr. Abdulrahimzai, called the Serious Fight Against Corruption, Appreciation, applying based on merit and competency, Focusing on Electronic Systems, Signing Arusha Declaration to Modernize Customs, US $ 6.02 Million Under the Extended Credit Facility Program with the International Monetary Fund; Successful Meetings of the Board Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board (JCMB) and Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), Oversight Coordination Body (OCB), the permanent membership of Afghanistan at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), regional and international travels of Minister of Finance to strengthen economic relations, giving control of ports to the Ministry of Finance, obtaining golden key of informing at the government level as important achievements of Ministry of Finance in FY-1396. “This year the target revenue was 153 and based on our plan we are able to collect 145.5 billion AFS until now” he said.
Until Now (FY-1396) Ministry of Finance has spent its development budget which shows 9% increase in development budget expenditure at the government level. The next year budget is prepared according to the international standards, in different with the past years”. He added. It is worth mentioning that, recently, the Asia Foundation has released a report on Afghanistan's economic, political and security situation, which confirms Afghanistan's progress in terms of reconstruction, good governance and security, and pointed out the increase Afghan confidence and optimism refer to the functions of the government. A part of today’s press conference was dedicated to the report of this foundation.
