Commando Operations in Helmand; Thirteen Prisoners Rescued

Lashkargah (BNA) In commando forces attack on Taliban jail in Helmand, 13 prisoners were rescued from grip of Taliban group.

Commandos’ forces with support of air forces attacked a Taliban jail in Washir district overnight.

The Taliban reportedly fled to villages adjacent to the prison when they learned of the commandos’ attack.

A senior Special Operations Corps official told BNA that 12 civilians and a policeman were rescued from Taliban grip in the attack.

They have been abducted by Taliban insurgents from all over the country over the past year and are being held in the prison.

Security officials in Helmand say the detainees have returned to their families.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
