Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan Seek Expanding Relations in Bilateral Ties

Kabul (BNA) The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, had a telephone conversation with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Sadyr Japarov here yesterday morning, a statement from the presidential palace said.

President Ghani, as quoted in the statement, first congratulated Japarov’s victory in the Kyrgyz presidential election, adding that Afghanistan has re-established its historical ties with Central Asia over the past few years, calling bilateral relations as good with all of them, including Kyrgyzstan.

The President stressed the need to expand and strengthen relations between Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan in the areas of economic, cultural, social and political spheres.

Thanking President Ghani, Kyrgyz President Japarov said that they want to have strong and lasting relations with Afghanistan and called it as one of the most important countries in the region.

He invited President Ghani to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan, where the two countries ‘leaders decided that heads of the two presidential offices would make arrangements for the visit.

On the other hand, President Ghani thanked Kyrgyzstan for its cooperation in implementing major regional projects and stressed further cooperation in the CASA 1000 and regional railway projects. He thanked the President of Kyrgyzstan for the invitation and invited his Kyrgyz counterpart to pay an official visit to Afghanistan.
