Kabul (BNA): Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan took part in a ceremony held on the occasion of 2nd martyrdom anniversary of Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani.
In the ceremony which was held in the hall of Loya Jirga the president called Ustad Rabbani as people-loving and tolerant, saying Ustad was planned to get independence and bring peace and stability to the country and tried to achieve the goals and proved his intention to Afghanistan people.
Hamid Karzai asserted that one of the main aims of Ustad Burhanuddin Rabbani was independence of Afghanistan for which he did Jihad and resistance, adding today we’ve had it and we had to tighten its foundations.
At the end of his speech, the president expressed hope that by blessing of clean blood of Ustad and millions of the country’s martyrs may Allah bring peace and stability in to the country.
Salahuddin Rabbani, son of Ustad Rabbani and a number of Jihadi leaders, government officials and political figures of the country also delivered speeches in the ceremony.
In a part of his speech, HPC chairman Salahuddin Rabbani said, “Ustad Rabbani’s aim was to maintain lasting peace in the country where he lost his life for this purpose.
Thus, the ceremony aimed at commemoration of the peace week and national unity for which leader of Jihad and resistance and thousands of other martyrs have sacrificed in this land.”
