Travel Exemptions Should Lift Permanently: MoF

KABUL (BNA) The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Foreign Ministry has hailed the extension of the travel exemption of 12 senior officials of the Islamic Emirate, and assumes that the reimposed of new sanctions on two officials of the Islamic Emirate is not a legitimate right.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement saying that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan considers the permanent lifting of the UN sanctions reimposed on the officials of the Islamic Emirate in harmony with the provisions of the Doha Agreement and calls for the permanent lifting of these sanctions .

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the UN Security Council to ascertain the rights of the Afghan people and not to be one-sided in its decision-making regarding the officials of the Islamic Emirate.

On Monday, June 20, 2022, the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee extended the travel exemption of 12 senior officials of the Islamic Emirate for another two months, but Mawlavi Abdul Baqi Haqqani, acting Higher Education minister, and Seyed Ahmad Shahidkhel, Deputy Minister of Education are still banned for traveling abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that the imposition of sanctions on the officials of the Islamic Emirate has been inappropriate and the continuation of failed experiences.
