57 Farmers Detained In Kandahar

Kandahar (BNA) 57 famers were detained by security personnel on charges of poppy cultivation in Kandahar province yesterday. 
Gul Mohammad Shokran head of anti-narcotic department of Kandahar said to BNA, as per article 7 of the draft constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the cultivation, traffic and smuggle of narcotic is crime and the one who cultivate poppy will be send to sentence. 
This year, the authorities of Kandahar province have complete readiness to band cultivation of poppy, said the source. 
According to him, for decreasing of puppy cultivation in Kandahar province, through awareness programs and launching workshops, we provided background for destruction of poppy cultivation. 
The detainee’s farmers are under the custody in the security commandment of that province.
