Afghanistan U-19 National Cricket Team Defeats Pakistan U-19 Team

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan’s Under-19 national cricket team defeated yesterday the Pakistan’s Under-19 national cricket team during the opening match of U-19 series held in Lahore of Pakistan.  The Pakistan Under-19s set a target of 132 runs for Afghanistan from 33 overs after Afghanistan won the toss and chosen to field first. The 50 overs match was reduced to 33 overs, applying the Duckworth-Lewis D/L method due to the rain. Ziaurrahman took three wickets while Muslim Musa, Jawid, Rashid Khan and Juma Gul took one wicket each to restrict the Pakistan U-19s to 131 runs. The overs were further reduced to 22 due to the rain using the Duckworth-Lewis D/L method at the beginning of Afghanistan’s inning.   Afghanistan required 104 runs from 22 overs to win the match.  On the batting side, Hazratullah Zazai scored 66 runs from 44 balls and Shahidullah made 33 runs to complete the given targets. Afghanistan national cricket board CEO, Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad while expressing happiness over winning of the Afghanistan U-19 national cricket team congratulated the success to the people of Afghanistan. It is worth mentioning that the Afghanistan U-19 national cricket team will play its second match with the Pakistan U-19 national cricket team today.
