Local Commander Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

Nangarhar (BNA) Bilal Pacha, a former local police commander in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Pacha, former local police commander in Achin district, had been accused of involvement in arbitrary killings, robberies and maintaining a private prison.
A statement from the provincial governor’s office said that the sentence was given to Pacha for misuse of authority in his post as police commander.  The prison sentence was given to Pacha in an open trial in the provincial capital city Jalalabad.
Two of his accused brothers, were acquitted for lack of evidence.  The decision on Pacha is not final as he has got right to appeal.
