Corner Stone of ANL Laid Down In Kabul

Kabul (BNA) Acting Minister of Information and Culture Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen laid down the cornerstone of Afghanistan National Library (ANL) in the area of Yekatoot, Kabul city. According to BNA, in the outset of a function which was held with the participation of some cabinet members, officials of Kabul municipality, acting Kabul governor and officials of the MoCC, Dr. Raheen spoke on the importance and role of book and its position impacts in development of society and damages of past wars on the country’s libraries, said in the course of its old history, Afghanistan has always been the shelter of book and we can see few country in the world with the book ground of library, boo, librarianship and book binding industry.
Dr. Raheen said, three thousand years Avesta created by Zoroster the Balkhi messenger, was written on the 12000 cow skin.
Raheen went on to say, since long times even pre-Islamic era when we owned book and library until and book related industry which include holy Quran translation and interpretation. Dr. Raheen said that in post Islamic era the libraries of Balkh, Herat, Gardize and Ghazni enjoyed particular global reputation.
Later on Prof. Nematullah Shahrani explained the importance of knowledge and book said the first verse of holy Quran was revealed on knowledge which has explained the importance of knowledge to human society.
He pointed out that today’s progress; developments and wonderful invention are owe to the holly books  sent to the prophets by almighty God  in order to be a guide to the people.
Dr. Saayed Zia Husseni advisor of the MUD and designer of the ANL project provided information on the map of the building said that this building is expected to be established in an area of 40000 square meter land in fine of floors including two floor basement and three floors over ground.
He added the ANL will have the capacity of three million books and accommodation capacity of 2200 readers in one time with 24 halls in different parts.
