Khalilzad Briefed President Ghani on Peace Talks, Eight Nations’ Tour

Kabul (BNA) US special envoy for Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad on Thursday called on President Ghani and Chief Executive (CE) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, BNA reported.
The discussions entered on Khalilzad’s regional engagement and Afghan preparations for negotiations to reach a political settlement to the conflict, saying Khalilzad briefed the President on his tour of the eight nations to facilitate peace talks. Praising US and Khalilzad’s support of the peace in Afghanistan, the President said government has announced its delegation for peace talks during the Geneva Conference and was ready to hold direct negotiations. “Joint peace efforts would help us to reach durable and honorable peace in the country,” the President added.
