Washington To Host Afghanistan’s Artistic, Handicrafts Exhibition

Kabul (BNA) Minister of Information and Culture, Abdul Bari Jahani, met with Scott Liddle, country director for Turquois Mountain Foundation here in Kabul yesterday, BNA reported.
In the meeting which was attended by the ministry’s deputy minister for culture, Sayed Mossadiq Khalili and Wahid Khalili director of the Turquois Institute, the two sides discussed enhanced cultural cooperation between MoIC and the said foundation, BNA further added. The country director of the Turquois Mountain Foundation said that the organization is going to hold an exhibition of handicrafts and art from Afghanistan in mid-March in Washington D.C of the United States and invited the Minister of Information and Culture to inaugurate the said exhibition. Hinting on importance of the Turquois Mountain Foundation’s cultural activities in the country, Minister Jahani praised the foundation’s art of engraving, asking the foundation to take special permission from the Ministry of Hajj and Endowment over the exhibiting of a calligraphic holy Quran copy, which was prepared based on Timurid’s gilding art, so that to be placed in a proper place for the exhibition. The deputy minister for culture besides thanking the Turquois Mountain Foundation for its cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Culture, asked the organization officials that considering their experiences, take joint efforts with MoIC in preservation of Afghanistan’s cultural heritages.
