Tuesday November 24, 2015

Kabul (BNA) The government of Afghanistan has bought 372 thousand tons of liquefied gas from Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkmenistan and has already been started its transition, the official said.
Ministry of Commerce and Industries told media, ‘The government of Afghanistan has bought 372 thousand tons of liquefied gas from Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkmenistan and its price would soon reduce throughout the country’. At the first months of the year, one kg gas price had been sold up to 30 Afs, but since a few days ago a kg gas is being sold against 65afs in markets. House of people had recently summoned minister of commerce and industries, Homayoun Rasa to present his report about hike of gas price in the country. He said that the officials of his ministry in their trips to Russia and Turkmenistan have signed a number of agreements on buying gas with both countries. He added that the government of Afghanistan has bought 150,000 tons from Azerbaijan and its transferring has already been begun, Rasa further said.
He also added, ‘By importing this quantity of gas from Russia and Turkmenistan the gas price will decrease’. A few thousand tons of liquefied gas from Azerbaijan has recently reached Herat and caused gas price to be declined in the province, he went on to say. Regarding recent hike of gas price in the country, he pointed out that increase of foreign currencies against Afs, 50 percent power cut in Kabul and lack of reservoirs are the reasons behind this problem. Meanwhile, a number of Kabul citizens told that with the advent of winter, fuel prices get unexpectedly increased and the government has never had any specific program to prevent it. The also added that some opportunist businessmen and shopkeepers restore their fuel materials such as gas, oil etc. and then sell them on people with high prices. A 2nd district resident, Sharif said, ‘Recently, fuel prices has considerably increased in Kabul and when we ask about its reason from shopkeepers, they reply that increase in dollar against afg is the reason behind this’. At the end, he asked the relevant officials to honestly step up in this regard; otherwise, our people will face many serious problems in the winter.
