Gender Committee Approves Draft of National Strategy To Ban Violence Against Women

Kabul (BNA) The second meeting of Gender Committee and women affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan with Second Vice-President, Sarwar Danesh was held yesterday, BNA reported.
In the outset of the meeting, the secretary of the committee presented the report about implementing previous decisions and later the drafted national strategy to ban violence against women was discussed. Aimed at checking violence against women, providing legal support, implementing policies and capacity building, the strategy would pave the way to protect women in society and facilitate women to have access to judiciary services. The participants in the meeting approved the draft in principle and also tasked the members of the committee to include the viewpoints of members of the committee in coordination with concerned entities. According to another report, in laws committee’s session held yesterday under the chairmanship of the Second Vice-President, Sarwar Danesh, draft law on municipalities draft regulation on controlling and surveillance of quality of water were discussed. In the session, members of the committee, discussed and reviewed the draft law on municipalities, expressing their visions in this regard. Likewise, members of the committee approve the draft law on municipalities. The committee tasked ministry justice to include suggestion and amendments delivered by members of the committee related to the draft law and send it along with draft law on urban development to cabinet for approving.
