Afghanistan Says the Final Words in Peace Process

Sunday January 27, 2019

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan says, “Basic decisions on peace will be taken when Taliban set around a table with Afghan government.”
BNA political analyst commenting on the issue writes while some media and sources affiliated to Talban have said that in current negotiations between the representatives of America and Taliban in Qatar some progress has taken place, but the Afghan authorities insist that the final decision depends to Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani the President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has reacted severely regarding to the talks between America and Taliban. He insists that in talks on US military presence in Afghanistan is mostly focus on south Asia security issue. (Withdrawal of forces depends to level of terrorists’ threat.  We should know that whether the threats eliminated or emerged in statures of other terrorist groups like IS.)
The president considers the main aim of Zalmay Khalilzad the special envoy of US mission bringing Taliban to negotiation table with Afghan government and insists that is Afghan government who takes the final decision. The president’s statements indicate that peace negotiation is an Afghan process and should remain as an Afghan process; the foreigners can act only as the facilitator of the process. In several rounds of talks between America and Taliban, Afghan government was not present. While any peace agreement, without a clear role of Afghan government would be meaningless and further weakens the foundation of peace and makes longer the way of reaching this national goal. That is they take commitment from Taliban that they would not be a threat against others, who guarantee that they meet their commitment. In Afghanistan including different sections of Taliban there are 24 terrorist armed groups who operate in the country and affiliated to foreign intelligence services.
If Taliban reach an agreement with America, the other countries also follow their interests in Afghanistan and in the region. Mainly, Afghan problem has several dimensions which not summarize with ensuring just the national interests of America and Pakistan, the interests of others also should be considered. It is not clear according to what law and credibility Taliban offer guarantee?  While Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has a legal and elected state and officially recognized by international community and has an honorable status among all international organs and agencies. If today America or NATO for their stability and peace extend their hands toward Taliban, in reality sell the victims , achievements and the costs of their fight against terrorism and clapping for groups who chanted religious slogans for destructions of civilizations.
