Wazir M. Akbar Khan, Shir Ali Khan’s Mausoleums Completed

Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA) Minister of Information and Culture visited Mazar-e-Sharif for reviewing condition of the province’s historical monuments. 
BNA reported, during the visit, Minister of Information and Culture Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen accompanied by Deputy Governor of Balkh Mohammad Zahir Wahdat, head of provincial council and a number of local officials of the province opened a couple of the province’s historical monuments completed recently.
Mausoleums of Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan and Amir Shir Ali Khan, two historic and known figures of Afghanistan have been recently renovated by Ministry of Information and Culture. The mausoleums are located in southern part of the fourth caliph of Islam Hazrat Ali’s mausoleum.
According to Dr. Raheen, for protection and preservation of the historic mausoleums’ architectural, the materials which were used first for construction of the mausoleums have been used.
The mausoleums had been partially destroyed due to passing of days and needed reconstruction.
After opening the two historic monuments, Dr Raheen visited some parts of the fourth caliph of Islam Hazrat Ali’s mausoleum in Mazar-e-Sharif.
During the visit, local officials of Balkh including Deputy Governor of the province and head of provincial council asked Dr. Raheen to take step for renovation of the mausoleum’s some parts.
Pointing out related to passing of great civilizations and presence of hundreds of historical monuments in Balkh, Minister of Information and Culture said the ministry was trying to absorb further donations for renovation and preservation of those monuments which were under destroying threat.
Dr. Raheen said he was in Balkh for previewing condition of the historic monuments and their reconstruction.
Meanwhile, provincial director of information and culture for Balkh says they have extended reconstruction and rehabilitation programs of the historic monuments in the province.
According to another report, Shefa historic spring’s new buildings were opened Wednesday while Minister of Information and Culture and a number of local officials were present.
The buildings including a mosque and Shefa spring have been constructed with total cost of 7.5 million afg funded by MoIC.
The historic monument Shefa spring and the mosque were built in fourth century and at the era of Samanian and had been renovated by people and rulers during the past history.
The historic monument was destroyed five years ago due to flooding, so MoIC has taken step for its reconstruction.
In the opening ceremony of the monument, Minister of Information and Culture Dr. Sayeed Makhdoom Raheen while pointing out related to historic background said the ministry was determined to prevent from annihilation of hundreds of historic monuments in Balkh and other parts of the country by absorption of donations.
Mosque and Shefa spring were located in 40km of Mazar-e-Sharif beside of the river.
Minister of Information and Culture says the ministry is determined to construct a protective wall with 100m length and 0,5m width for protection of this historic monument.
