Abdullah Asks International Community To Prioritize Assistance To Afghan Needy People

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan participated in a conference held the other day for calling $405 million humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan for 2015.
According to Executive Chief Press office to BNA, in the conference Dr. Abdullah while praising the international community for the assistance asked them to put assistance to the needy people of Afghanistan in their working priority.
He considered benefiting of 1.2 million Afghans from the international community’s humanitarian assistance, providing assistance to 390 Afghans in insecure areas and distribution of foodstuffs to 140 children suffering from malnutrition during the current year from one side as a sign of widespread problems in the country, but on the other, it was showing serious consideration of the international community to Afghanistan’s issues.
The country’s CEO affirmed presence of problems and defections towards dispatching assistance to affected people and considered Urgo district of Badakhshan as a clear example of cooperation and problems, adding that the issue should be reviewed for better organization of dispatching the assistance to needy and affected people.
Dr. Abdullah considered that call for assistance to the people of Afghanistan would include foodstuffs assistance, nutrition to children suffering malnutrition, hygienic water, domestic displaced, returnees and 200,000 Afghans who have returned from Pakistan and needed assistance. The country’s CEO while asserting that the National Unity Government (NUG) was fully ready for accountability related to the international community’s assistance, asking all international organizations providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan to prove transparency in their work by precision accountability.
According to the CEO, precision review will be done for somehow dispatching assistance to real needy people and prevention from further expenditures and losses by enhancement capabilities of thousands of active aid workers. In his speech, Dr. Abdullah added by $405 million we could save the life of most of needy people and those facing with big threats in the country, domestic displaced and natural affected people in the country.
