Women’s Handicrafts Exhibition Held in Balkh

BALKH (BNA) Two-day exhibition of women’s handicrafts in Balkh, Jawzjan, Samangan, Faryab and Sar-e-Pul provinces with the financial support of UNDP in Mazar-e-Sharif held.
A function held on this occasion, Achim Steiner, UNDP Resident Representative, praised the efforts of Afghan women in domestic production, especially handicrafts, and added that the organization is working to launch Development and economic programs to help families achieve self-sufficiency through domestic production.
Steiner announced the signing of a $1.5 million contract to support businesswomen in the north of the country, with the goal of strengthening and supporting women entrepreneurs in the provinces.
Sharifa, one of the women producers of dirty Afghan clothes, says she has set up a small handicraft factory in the past few years, employing eight women, and has set up exhibitions. Explained the growth of production and the increase of their sales.
