Kabul (BNA) Minister of Information and Culture Abdul Bari Jahani has said that the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) has been striving to include Herat in UNESCO’s world cultural heritages list.
After visiting historical sites and monuments in Herat recently, the Minister added that the government should preserve the monuments and allocate necessary budget in this field.
Herat with having some 800 historical sites and monuments was nominated for inclusion of cultural heritage. Aria Raufian, Director of Information and Culture Department of Herat has also called for allocation of necessary budget to preserve historical sites. According to local officials, a number of historic monuments are facing the risk of fading in Herat.
