FM Atmar, Pakistani Ambassador Discuss Peace Process

Kabul (BNA) Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with Pakistani Ambassador to Kabul Mansour Ahmad Khan to discuss cooperation between the two countries, aiming at strengthening the Afghan peace process, a MoFA statement said yesterday.

The Foreign Minister spoke about the latest developments in the Afghan peace process and preparations for the next round of peace talks in Turkey and hinted at a national consensus on the roadmap for peace in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, according to the statement.

The two sides further discussed the continuation of bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the success of the Afghan peace talks and emphasized the continuation of consultations in this regard.

The Pakistani ambassador, as quoted in the statement, called political stability in Afghanistan as the base for regional ties and the strengthening of economic cooperation in the region, and assured the Foreign Minister of his country’s support for the Afghan peace process.
