Govt. Leadership Meeting Discusses NTA Salary, Hike in Market Prices

Kabul (BNA) The government leadership meeting, chaired by the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani was held yesterday morning at the presidential palace, according to a statement.

The meeting, which was also attended by the vice presidents, discussed the evaluation of NTA salaries and the hike of food prices in the market, according to presidential palace statement.

First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, presented the NTA salary evaluation report to the government, saying that the biggest problem in this regard was lack of a clear definition of tasks, and that the salary reform system should be implemented gradually so that to also save money and increase the salaries of the low-ranking government employees.

Second Vice president Mohammad Sarwar Danesh, spoke in the meeting and said that one of the important demands of the people was the salaries to be standardized through a clear mechanism, and suggested that gradually implementation of the process.

The participants also supported the NTA salary evaluation process in their respective ministries and departments, but for some technical reason called for a clear mechanism to maintain a section for important technical positions.

After listening to their views and suggestions, President Ghani said that there should be a clear definition of human capacity in departments and ministries and that their information and management capital should be identified. He stressed that every NTA contract should be turned into a result-oriented contract.

The president instructed the finance ministry that the NTA process should continue only until the month of Hamal (March-April), and that the next meeting of the government leadership would decide on a clear mechanism in this regard.

In order to reduce the prices of raw materials in the market, President Ghani instructed to hold a meeting with businessmen and the oil and gas unions to find a fundamental solution to this problem.

At the end of his speech, the President said that price stability in the markets is in everyone’s interest and if there is a monopoly, the government will take the necessary measures.
