Aibak (BNA) Samangan security officials say that Hazrat Sultan district of the province has not fallen and the security forces are present.
According to BNA, Munir Rahimi, spokesman for the Samangan police chief, denied the Taliban’s claim that the Hazrat Sultan district had fallen to the Taliban, saying that a group of armed Taliban attacked the Hazrat Sultan district center last night, facing with resistance of security forces, defense forces and popular uprisings. And the militants fled the scene with casualties.
But a number of locals confirm the Taliban’s attack on the district center.
A resident of Hazrat Sultan District Hospital said that Taliban militants attacked the district center at around 7pm and seized the district building, with defense, security forces and popular uprisings retreating from the district center, and hours later with the support of forces. The airstrikes again drove the district center out of Taliban occupation.
He added that a number of residents of Hazrat Sultan district center left their homes for fear of their lives and they came to Aibak in Samangan center.
