Herat and Kandahar Airports Resume Operations

Kabul (BNA) Government officials said flights from Herat and Kandahar airports resumed on Sunday after the brief closure of the two airports due to security threats.

According to officials, four flights were made from Khwaja Abdullah Ansari International Airport in Herat on Sunday.

Ahmad Shahir Salehi, director of Herat Airport, says there are eight flights on Monday, including United Nations flights, and the situation has returned to normal.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Civil Aviation Authority said flights at Ahmad Shah Baba International Airport in Kandahar province had also returned to normal.

Flights were temporarily canceled after the airport came under rocket attack early Sunday, damaging the runway.

“The problem has been resolved and all flights at the airport have returned to normal,” the ACAA said.
