International Women’s Day; Afghans Women Need More Attentions/Commentary

Kabul (BNA) International Women’s Day is celebrated 6th March every year in Afghanistan, while still many Afghan women are facing with different challenges in the society.
BNA analyst commenting on the issue writes, undoubtedly, marking International Women’s Day is in-fact a tribute to the women of the world particularly those women who tragically suffered because social injustice and discriminations.
The day remembers the world community the revolution of women for protection of their basic and humanitarian rights.
8th March conveys a great message of the women to the world and realizes them to honor and value the rights of the women in the world.
Today the Afghan women have gotten 25% seat reservation in the Lower House of the parliament with 5pc in health services.
Additionally, in the course of history women heroically sacrificed themselves and proved that like other women of the world, the women of Afghanistan have the capability for promotion of any activity in all fields, so, they can play their role well in the society and defend from the rights given to them by the society.
Today the Afghan women have achieved remarkable gains in socio, economic, cultural and political fields including private sector particularly, provincial councils, government department, and education, higher education, media, and security sector and so on.
Based on the reports, about 3 million children are deprived from going to school in Afghanistan, that 60 pc of them are girls.
Despite Afghanistan received tangible growth in women education, women in the country still confront major issues and there discriminations against the women particularly in the southern and eastern regions of the country where insecurity still dominate. Besides that malnutrition and mortality rates among the Afghan women are still two major issues that threaten the life of Afghan women and international community must focus to settle the problems. The women also face series of other social issues such as per mature marriages, child marriages, illiteracy and violence. According to the recent statistic issued by the Ministry of Women Affairs, more than four thousand cases of corruption were registered across the country over the last one year and the issue is still growing in the country and needs to be prevented.
International Women’s Day has been observed since in the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
Celebration of 8th of March gives this chance to both men and women to take active part in all fields of life and progress and development of our society indefatigably and exploit all their rights inserted in the constitution on women rights and open their way towards further progresses.
For changing situation of women in the country, related organs should work together for changing the lives of women and best future of them.
International Women’s Day was first established by Clara Zetkin, a German Marxist and feminist activist back in 1911.
