Irrigation Networks Construction Work Began in Herat

Herat (BNA) Construction of eight irrigation networks in Herat began yesterday.
These networks are expected to supply the water needed by thousands acres of fields in Injil and Zandajan districts.
Heshmatullah Ghafouri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, said at the foundation ceremony that the construction of the networks would cost 120 million Afghanis.
He said that the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock considers water supply for farmers as the most important way for Afghanistan’s agricultural prosperity and self-sufficiency through agricultural production and sees it as a principle.
Herat Governor Seyed Wahidullah Qatali says that with the construction of these networks, thousands acres of fields will be irrigated in Injil and Zandajan districts.
These projects are scheduled to be put into operation in another six months.
