Kabul (BNA) The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has included Jam Minaret in the Islamic World Heritage List, the Ministry of Information and Culture said Wednesday.

During its 3rd extraordinary meeting, which was held on December 10, 2020, the ISESCO members unanimously agreed with the proposal of Afghanistan for registering the Minaret of Jam in the list of the Islamic World Cultural Heritage, the ministry said.

“The achievement is the result of the hard works and effective efforts of the representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Paris that sent and followed up on the documents relating to Minaret of Jam,” said the ministry.

According to the ministry , during the committee meeting, after evaluation and reviewing of the dossiers proposed by the ISESCO member countries, 22 cultural works from six Islamic countries, including Afghanistan, UAE, Yemen, Palestine, Morocco and Oman were accepted.

In 2020, the Jam Minaret has previously been included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List and now is on the list of Cultural Heritage of the Islamic World.

This is the first cultural work of the country, being included in the Islamic World’s list of cultural heritages.

The Ministry says that this great achievement is of big importance in the strengthening of the national image, preservation and restoration of the country’s cultural monuments at the international level, and strengthening of the government’s policy in the field of cultural diplomacy.
