Kandahar (BNA) Kandahar the south of the country once again witnessed the heaviest fighting between the Security Forces and the Taliban-affiliated aggressors.
The clashes took place last night until this morning in Maiwand, Arghandab and Panjwai districts following a Taliban attack on Security Forces bases and convoys.
Two officials of Atel and Maiwand corps in south and south-west of the country say 36 insurgents were killed in the clashes.
They told BNA the air and ground forces targeted Taliban.
But Taliban say the recent clashes in Kandahar have inflicted heavy casualties on the security troops.
According to another report, the security forces prevented a series of explosions in Kandahar by detecting and neutralizing 28 mines.
No one has been arrested in connection with the bombings.
